Standard of Dental Care - 2008
The standard of care in Dentistry changes constantly. The standard of care for the replacement of teeth now includes the extensive use of dental implants. The selection of cosmetic choices for the beautification of smiles includes traditional porcelain veneers and crowns, pressed porcelain veneers and crowns, (Empress and Lumineers) and computer generated crowns and veneers. Metal bases for building porcelain restorations are being replaced with zirconia, alumina and a variety of block porcelains which are created by computer directed milling machines.
The matching of tooth shades is now done by color spectroscopy. The location of Dental Implants is now designed by utilizing the i-Cat, (a cone beam 3-D Dental Imaging System). Software allows the dentist to view the entire head and jaw areas in three dimensions, directing where implants are best placed.
